Overview

Docdown is an open-source desktop application that helps you download your Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides as Markdown files. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Docdown accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Access

When you sign in with Google, Docdown requests the following read-only permissions:

Google Drive (read-only) - To browse and list your files and folders
Google Docs (read-only) - To export documents as Markdown
Google Sheets (read-only) - To export spreadsheets as CSV/Markdown

Docdown can only read your files. It cannot modify, delete, or share any of your Google Drive content.

Data Storage

Local only. All downloaded files are saved to a folder you choose on your computer. No data is sent to any server, database, or third party.
Authentication tokens are stored locally on your machine using the system keychain/credential store. They are never transmitted anywhere.
No analytics. Docdown does not collect usage data, telemetry, crash reports, or any other analytics.
No cookies. Docdown does not use cookies or any web tracking mechanisms.

Third-Party Services

Docdown communicates only with Google's APIs (Drive, Docs, Sheets) to authenticate you and access your files. No other third-party services are used. No data is shared with any third party.

Data Retention

Docdown does not retain any of your data. Your Google authentication token is stored locally and can be revoked at any time by:

Signing out within the app
Revoking access at Google Account Permissions

Children's Privacy

Docdown is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Docdown after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
